Torino has become an open “laboratory of Innovation” thanks to Torino City Lab (TCL).

From autonomous driving to drones, from IoT and 5G to robotics.

Torino City Lab has created a perfect environment to support companies and startups to test innovative solutions in a real context. The initiative allows ideas to be developed and improved almost in real time to meet current urban challenges.

Torino City Lab is an initiative-platform where citizens, companies and public administration can explore and experiment together innovative products, technologies and services in order to test its functionality and utility for end users and assess the impacts on quality of life.

Torino offers the entire city for develop new solutions, providing a system of physical, technological infrastructures, relations and know-how to experiment and then scale up the proposed innovations.

Promoted by the City of Turin, it involves a vast local partnership of subjects from public and private sectors interested in supporting and growing the local innovation ecosystem. TOP-IX Consortium is part of TCL network.

You can now apply to Educational Lab, an initiative born in the framework of Learning Technologies Accelerator to develop a space dedicated to innovation in the educational field, to allow the testing of solutions for teaching and learning environments (deadline: July 26, 2019).

Intersection Conference is back: two days of workshops and talks to learn about the best  methodologies and processes behind the most-used current products.

The event is dedicated to UX designers and developers and will take place October 1 – 2, 2019 in Milan.

Many national and international renowned professionals will be on stage. Among the guests of the event, the line-up can boast Invision, Frog Design, caffeina, Google e Sketchin.

“ITNOG On The Road“, the series of events aimed at promoting the growth of the Italian Internet community, arrives in Turin.

After the summer appointment in July in Rome, we are waiting for you in Turin on September 25th at the HQ of the TOP-IX Consortium.

The event will be divided into two parts: in the early afternoon, there will be a workshop on the BGP protocol held by:

•  Flavio Luciani (aka Jimbo), NaMeX Chief Innovation Officer;
• Massimo Durando (aka Katanga) TOP-IX Head of network engineering.

There are 22 places available and the course will be held in Italian.

At 7 PM we will move to the MURAZZI, along the PO River, in the brand new local RoboTO to have an aperitif served by NINO, the first robotic barman designed for the mass market.

The experimental bar was born from the project started by the Innovation Department of the City of Turin, Italdesign, Mercedes and Makr Shakr.

In RoboTO, you can try Lift-Bit, modular sofa designed by Carlo Ratti composed of hexagons adjustable through an app, which allows you to configure it in different forms: from armchair to chaise long and to bed. Also on the wall, Scribit, a wall printer that uses a thermosensitive ink to write, erase and rewrite indefinitely, will design the welcome for ITNOG.

The programmed maintenance intervention (started at 1:00 AM) has lasted longer due to an expected technical problem. For this reason the connectivity of TOP-IX infrastructure is reporting some fluctuations.

The TOP-IX team is working to restore as soon as possible the normal operation of the infrastructure. We’ll notify when the restore operation will be completed.

As known, on last Tuesday 14th at about 11.40am (CET) we had an issue on IXP backbone that caused total block of interconnection services provided by TOP-IX Consortium.

Aforementioned issue involved VTP server/client of devices in TOP-IX network, undermining VLAN data base integrity.
Having detected the problem, TOP-IX NOC gradually recovered all the services provided on its platform, ending at 12.45.

Once the team has fixed the issue, appropriate countermeasures have been implemented to avoid same problems in the future.
