In 2023, TOP-IX streaming saw the consolidation of the relationship with the University of Turin (we provide the streaming service since 2022). In addition, at the end of the year, started an interesting collaboration with Feltrinelli: we provided the live streaming of the presentations of two books, with authors connected remotely.

The numbers tell us that the on-demand traffic has grown significantly, compared to 2022, reaching 78 TBytes. Despite the growth in the number of events realized (over 200, against about 130 in 2022), the live streaming traffic has instead decreased, settling at 391 TBytes.

News on the streaming platform

Regarding the on-demand services, we have introduced some important innovations on the TOP-IX platform. We have provided a content acquisition mechanism that allows the automatic management of videos with multiple audio tracks and the distribution of content in multibitrate, in order to make the most of the potential of our system, both for live and on-demand content

With the Red Carpet this afternoon (Thursday, February 15) at 5:30 pm, the 74th Berlin International Film Festival officially opens, marking the eighteenth year of partnership between the Berlinale and the TOP-IX Consortium, as streaming partner.

From 15 to 25 February, from its temporary offices, on the seventh floor of the Berlinale Palast, TOP-IX will be broadcasting live (and subsequently made available on demand), on the Berlinale website, red carpets, photo calls, press conferences of the protagonists, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival.

For the 17th consecutive year, the TOP-IX Consortium is confirmed as streaming partner of the event. Red Carpet, photo calls, press conferences, Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Festival will be broadcast live on the Berlinale website and subsequently available on demand.

The need for multilingual streaming events is increasingly pressing for those who have to manage events aimed at an international audience, for those who speak to several countries at the same time or have offices around the world.
We have faced this request in many events and we have adopted various solutions to meet it.

Multilingual streaming: a single player with movie (recorded) in English and subtitle selector for up to 12 languages

In the conferences of dealers of companies in the Stellantis group, in which the EMEA sales manager illustrated the 2021 business plan, there were 12 connected countries.

We have been provided with the video file and related subtitle files. Than, we have developed a subtitle publishing system to manage the selection of 12 languages in a single player. This way, the video stream did not stop when changing languages.

Another company was in need for simultaneous translation of the film. They gave us 6 different films, each with their own voice over.

So that, it was possible to choose the player’s preferred voice-over, with a language selector.

The multilingual streaming requested by the Berlinale, the Berlin Film Festival, included a player for each language requested: German and English.

We have created two distinct players, one for the German part of the site and one for the English part of the site. The audio streams were routed to the player in the corresponding language.

The TOP-IX Consortium is Streaming Partner of Biennale Tecnologia. The TOP-IX platform will host all the events and TOP-IX will also make its technical skills available to the event.

Born on the wave of the success of the 2019 Technology Festival, the first edition of Biennale Tecnologia kicks off this afternoon.
Following the pandemic and the creation of the red zones, the Politecnico di Torino (organizer of the event, curated by Luca De Biase and Juan Carlos De Martin), decided to keep the richness of the offer unchanged (more than 140 meetings with over 260 Italian and international guests), bringing the entire Biennale Tecnologia schedule online.

Ten channels will host the program, which revolves around the theme “Mutations. For a sustainable future “.

For the streaming of meetings, events, performances and round tables, Biennale Tecnologia has chosen to create a partnership with the TOP-IX Consortium, which makes its platform and skills available. TOP-IX will also manage the projections that will be broadcast, every day from 9 to 20.30, on the large screen located in Piazza Castello.

The 69th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival ended on Sunday 17, after 10 days of live streaming; the 13th edition for TOP-IX as the official streaming provider.

And the numbers tell a particularly interesting edition about straming. There were more than 474 thousand unique users (and almost a million and a half total connections). Over 255 thousand hours of viewing.

The first place on the podium of the countries most interested in following the Berlinale is occupied by Germany, which wins clearly: more than a million connections, against the one hundred thousand of Poland and the 84 thousand of China. Fourth Italy, with 17 thousand connections.

The 69th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival kicks off thursday February the 7th and for the thirteenth year, TOP-IX is present as an official streaming provider.
From 7 to 17 February, Red Carpet, press conferences and the opening and closing ceremonies of the Festival can be watched on the Berlinale website and on its Facebook page.

It’s the ninth year that TOP-IX is the Official Streaming Partner of Berlinale, between the historic consortium of TOP-IX.

This year too, our team – at home in the small office at the Berlinale Palast seventh floor – began to transmit live the Open Cerimony and all the press conferences and red carpet of the films in competition.

The stream flow is in HD quality multibitrate and within 12 days of the Festival, will be broadcast around 250 hours of live, with more than 1000GB of traffic transferred.
