In 2023, women still represent a small percentage of corporate technical roles and technology start-up founders. The Femme Forward initiative aims to break down this gender gap. In the following few lines, we will explain the Future Start-up Founders training course: a unique opportunity for women aspiring to be part of the tech entrepreneurial world.

Tackling the gender gap in the technology sector

Astonishingly, only 8% of European companies’ technical roles in cloud computing are held by women [Src. McKinsey]. Furthermore, the number of women founders of tech start-ups in Europe remains shockingly low, below 15% [Src. Startup Genome]. This situation highlights the urgency of breaking gender barriers within the technology sector.

The Femme Forward opportunity

Femme Forward’s Future Start-up Founders course offers women the opportunity to receive free training in technology entrepreneurship: a 60-hour programme over 8 weeks with content delivered online in live and asynchronous mode.

What you will learn

You will have the opportunity to effectively conceive and present your business idea, from the field validation of assumptions to elaborating a solid business model, from refining product development strategies to marketing tactics and the necessary technical fundamentals. 

A comprehensive training experience

The training will not be limited to theoretical lectures. Through interactive workshops, live and asynchronous lectures, tutorials, customised mentoring sessions and participation in talks and networking events, you will acquire both technical and soft skills. This holistic approach will comprehensively prepare you for the challenges of the entrepreneurial world.

Femme Forward is supported by the EU

The Future Start-up Founders course takes place within Femme Forward, an EU-funded project under the Erasmus+ programme and has a consortium of 15 partners, including TOP-IX, from industry, technology and education in 8 European states.

The training will start on 6 November and will welcome 30 participants. No specific entry skills or prerequisites are required other than curiosity, dedication and the ambition to build one’s future as a technology worker and entrepreneur. You can now apply for BIG DIVE 2020, the brand new edition of the intensive training program in the field of Data Science, Data Visualization and Data Engineering organized by TOP-IX in collaboration with  Axant, Fondazione ISI and TODO.

In 2020 BIG DIVE has changed its classic format: the 4 consecutive weeks become 4 stand-alone modules dedicated to the foundations of Data Science with Python, Machine and Deep Learning, Data Visualization and finally Data Engineering. Each module will be available individually or as part of a complete and unique training program aimed at providing the technical skills and methodological approaches to generate the maximum impact in data-driven projects.

The new structure was designed starting from the numerous feedback received over the years and aims to meet the needs by business customers (such as companies and organizations that intend to train their employees) and at the same time to open up to the heterogeneous audience with different backgrounds and entry levels.

The training program is structured as follows:

Module 1 – From Zero to Data Science with Python // 14-18 September

Module 2 – Machine and Deep Learning intensive // 12-16 October

Module 3 – Communicating and Visualizing Data // 16-20 November

Module 4 – Deep Dive into Data Engineering // 30 November -4 December

Among the many changes, the strengths of BIG DIVE remain unchanged: the value of teachers and guest lecturers with proven experience in the field, the hands-on approach and the highly collaborative and practical training mood.

Registration will close one week before the beginning of each module and the Early Bird Price will expire on May 31st. There are also discounts for students and promotional packages for people who simultaneously purchase more than one module.

Finally, we are planning a final Hackathon-style event where the students of the 2020 edition, past Alumni and Data Scientists will be able to prove themselves with the challenges and the data provided by the selected Data Sponsors (companies, startups, non-profit organizations).

Today we opened the registration to participate in CorDATA, the training and awareness program about Data4Good and Civic Technologies for operators and organizations in the International Cooperation sector.

The initiative – designed and organized by TOP-IX (leader), Fondazione ISI, Moxoff and HeartInData, with the support of Fondazione Cariplo and Compagnia di SanPaolo – will consist of 5 training days to understand how to extract value from your data, how to use open data sources and how to structure an effective Data-Driven strategy, followed by two laboratory days, in which participants will be able to apply the skills acquired under the guidance of expert tutors.

Thanks to the support of Fondazione Cariplo and Compagnia di San Paolo (and particularly to the initiative “Innovazione per lo sviluppo“), participation in CorDATA is FREE upon submission by June 30, 2019. From June 6th to July 8th, the TOP-IX Consortium, in collaboration with ISI Foundation, ToDo and Axant.it, organizes the FIFTH edition of BIG DIVE, a 5-week training program aimed at enhancing the technical skills needed to dive in the world of BIG DATA, extract value and generate social and economic impact. Registrations are open: early price until March 13th; standard price until May 8th.

Moved aside from the media hype, the term BIG DATA is now a prerogative of many services and products in the ICT sector (and not only). Although many open source players, as well as the big firms in the corporate market developed and released all-in-one platforms, tools, and software libraries to simplify and improve the efficiency of information management, the human factor continues to play a key role to create knowledge from data and to enable data-driven decision making processes.
Professionals skilled in handling the data and the complexity of the living web, on a technical side and/or on a management side, are daily requested by companies, start-ups and government institutions.
BIG DIVE from 2012 aims to address this pain, training professionals able to deal with the BIG DATA challenges.
In this highly competitive scenario (due to the proliferation of university tracks and master classes as well as punctual courses and bootcamps), the competitive advantages of BIG DIVE are the same pillars on which it was designed.
